Follow these steps when your TV does not display your Tbaytel TV service.
Check your TV’s input by using your TV remote or Tbaytel Legacy TV remote
Using the TV’s remote control:
- Using the Television’s remote is the easiest, since it is a TV setting we will be changing.
- Locate the Input selection button on the remote control.
- It can be called Input, Source, TV/Video.
- On some Smart TV’s you will need to press Home and then find Input or Source in the menu.
- You will be presented with an input list. Tbaytel will usually install the services on HDMI1 or HDMI2, but could be in any of the available HDMI ports. Select the correct input and then press OK.
- Occasionally inputs will be named or labelled something other than HDMI1, such as Cable Box or Tbaytel or Unknown
- If your service is still not restored - return to step 2 and check the other inputs.
- If all inputs are checked and there is still no service - check the physical connections (see instructions below).
- If issues persist, call Technical Support at 807-623-4400 or toll free at 1-800-264-9501.
Using Tbaytel’s Legacy remote control:
- On the first row of buttons press the TV button
- On the second row of buttons press the TV/Video button
- You will be presented with an input list. Tbaytel will usually install the services on HDMI1 or HDMI2, but could be in any of the available HDMI ports. Select the correct input and then press OK.
- Occasionally inputs will be named or labelled something other than HDMI1; so you may see things like Unknown, Cable Box or Tbaytel
- If TV Service is restored on HDMI1; go back to the Tbaytel remote and select the STB button. From there you should be able to view it as normal.
- If it is not restored - return to step 2 and check the other inputs.
- If all inputs are checked and there is still no service - check the physical connections (see instructions below).
- If issues persist, call Technical Support at 807-623-4400 or toll free at 1-800-264-9501.
Checking your TV’s physical connections
The age of the TV will determine what kind of cables are involved in the connection between the set top box and the TV set. Newer TVs and set top boxes will use a HDMI cable as their connection type - older TVs and set top boxes could have component or composite cables. To get full 1080p resolution you will need to use an HDMI cable.
HDMI Cable
If the connection between the set top box and the TV is a HDMI cable there is only one spot on the set top box that the connection will go in. (On most modern TV sets there are more than one HDMI ports.)
If either end of the cable is disconnected or loose this can cause a No Signal to be on the screen. Confirm that both ends of the cable are connected well to their respective pieces of equipment. (On the TV there will be the label for the input it is in (HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.).)
Component Cable (5 plugs)
If the connection is a 5 ended coloured cable that would be Component 3 for video and 2 for audio. The cables should be labelled what they are and the STB ports will be colour coded to match the most commonly used Component cables. If any of these cables are missing this will affect the video feed.
Composite Cable (3 plugs)
If the connection is a 3 ended cable, you have a Composite cable and will be using the Video Out, L & R ports in the set top box. If one of the 3 cables are in the wrong port or disconnected on either piece of equipment there will be no video.
