How to change a fixed/rise of rate heat sensor battery

How to replace a battery in a fixed/rise of rate heat detector.

Before changing the batteries or moving any existing security sensors or equipment you will need to put your security system on system test. This can be performed by calling the Tbaytel monitoring station at 807-345-2739 and picking Option 1.

There are several different variations of heat sensors that are compatible with Tbaytel security systems. Each variation will also have different battery requirements, but most require CR123A batteries.

Fixed/rise of rate heat sensor can take two forms:

Round

  1. Remove the unit from its mounting plate by turning the detector body counterclockwise approximately ½ ‐inch
  2. Remove the old battery(ies). Some connections may be snug so if you use a tool to assist be gentle.
  3. Leave the unit battery-less for at minimum 30 seconds for the system to detect the drop off.
  4. Install the new battery(ies). Be sure to pay attention to the polarity as to not damage the unit
  5. Reattach to its mounting base.
  6. Arm and disarm the system to clear the trouble condition on the keypad

 

Flat

Heat Sensor
  1. Remove the transmitter's top cover by inserting the flat blade of a small screwdriver into the pry-off slot at one end of the unit slightly twisting the blade until the cover disengages.
  2. Remove the old battery(ies), some connections may be snug so if you use a tool to assist be gentle.
  3. Leave the unit battery-less for at minimum 30 seconds for the system to detect the drop off.
  4. Install the new battery(ies) - be sure to pay attention to the polarity as to not damage the unit
  5. Replace the cover
  6. Reset the system

Regardless of the battery you need; you should be able to acquire them from the Tbaytel Retail Store in the Thunder Center; or at most hardware stores.
