Unfortunately, iPhones do not have a means of automatically tracking data usage each billing period. In order for the data tracking to work, an iPhone user has to reset their Cellular Data Statistics on their invoice date manually. To reset your statistics:
Here you can scroll down and under Cellular Data, Current Period and Current Period Roaming will show the amount of data used since the last reset of the Data Usage Statistics. Individual apps will show their amount used below the app name. If you want to disable this app from utilizing data you can slide the switch to the off position.
Tech Support Tip: Set yourself a reminder to reset your statistics on your invoice date in the phone so you can keep your statistics in the phone as accurate as possible. You can also set up third party apps like myDataManager that will track your plan and usage.
