My Internet and/or TV service is not working after a Power Outage/Surge

After a power outage or surge, it is possible that the equipment may need to be reset once power is restored.

If there continues to be no power to your modem after the power is restored, verify whether or not your modem is plugged into a power bar or wall socket.

If it is a power bar that says CyberPower on it, check that it is on and the green power light is lit up.  If the green light is not lit up, press and hold the round silver power button for 2-3 seconds, and it should make a couple of beeps and the light turns on.  If it does not beep or turn on, call (807)623-4400. You may have to use a different power bar or plug anything that was in the UPS into an electrical outlet, until the UPS is replaced, to restore service.

Once you have confirmed the UPS is receiving power check the front of the modem to see if there are any lights on or blinking.  It may take up to 2-3 minutes for the modem to completely boot back up.  Once the modem is booted up, test your internet connection.

If your modem was plugged directly into an electrical outlet and has no power, determine whether or not the issue is with your modem rather than your electrical outlet. Some outlets have a reset button that may need to be pressed. If this does not solve the issue, or if there is not a reset button, you may also have to check your fuse panel.

If you are also a TV subscriber

If you are showing no signal to your set top boxes, a power cycle may be required.  Pull the small thin black power cord out of the back of STB(s) for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.  It will take 1-2 minutes for the STB to reboot.
