Terrace Bay, Ontario (March 7, 2023) – Tbaytel and the Township of Terrace Bay are celebrating as it became the next northern Ontario community to have access to Tbaytel’s state-of-the-art fibre technology as of Tuesday, March 7.

While already serviced with Tbaytel’s world-class mobility network, this project will see fibre access for 905 addresses, both business and residential, in Terrace Bay bringing Tbaytel’s complete bundle suite of products and services – including mobility, landline phone, Internet, TV and security – all from a single provider at competitively priced rates for the first time.

“Terrace Bay now has all of the benefits that come with an advanced fibre optic network and Tbaytel is proud to have the town join Fort Frances, Dryden, Kenora, Keewatin, Marathon and Thunder Bay as northern Ontario communities that will see tremendous growth and opportunity as a result,” said Tbaytel President and CEO Dan Topatigh.

“While having virtually unlimited bandwidth straight to their home or business is an incredible service for our customers, we’re tremendously excited to see what’s possible for communities across our serving territory as Tbaytel continues to bring more fibre to more northerners than ever before.”

In addition to the benefits that can be felt across multiple sectors ranging from education, health care, social services and information technology, access to fibre technology can also mean an exceptional telecommunications and entertainment experience for customers in their homes.

Originally announced in 2021 as part of $4.2 million in funding from the provincial government to the Town of Marathon and Township of Terrace Bay, the project also includes a multi-million dollar capital investment from Tbaytel and commitment towards time and resources for the design, build and implementation.

“The opportunities for Terrace Bay now that we have a fibre optic network are almost as limitless as the bandwidth it brings. Whether it’s a young entrepreneur looking to bring their ideas to the world, an existing economic driver looking to expand or new families and businesses moving in, we can now fully participate in the digital economy right here in northwestern Ontario,” said Terrace Bay mayor Paul Malashewski.

Terrace Bay customers can visit tbaytel.net/fibre or stop by Terrace Bay’s brand new Tbaytel Authorized Dealer Everything Mobile at 9 Simcoe Plaza for information.
