Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager - Network Management, receives, tests, analyses, dispatches and closes trouble reports, and performs duties related to the operation of the Network Management Centre.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Responds to all incoming calls to the Network Management Centre.
  2. Arranges appointments with customers for visits by field repairpersons and dispatches field repairpersons to repair fault.
  3. Test all trouble reports and dispatches troubles to the proper repair staff.
  4. Clears and finalizes all trouble reports using proper coding.
  5. Provide assistance to staff during repairs or installations, such as testing, facility information and assignments of new facilities.
  6. Assists and advises customers regarding service problems, repair policy, service rates, and provide instruction to customers on the use of equipment and features.
  7. Monitors network management systems for faults and dispatches appropriate repairpersons.
  8. Analyses customer trouble reports and other statistical data to determine causes or patterns of faults and provides recommendations based on analysis.
  9. Maintains and updates customer and system records associated with the Network Management Center. Conducts administrative tasks on network management systems as directed, such as report generation, backups and data purges.
  10. Provide training to other telephone staff or customers as required.
  11. Works in compliance with all applicable Health and Safety legislation.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A Diploma in Electrical/Electronics or Computer Engineering Technology from a University or College, with a working knowledge of telecommunications principles and equipment. Practical work experience with various computer hardware and software technology is essential. Must have the ability to communicate with the public in a courteous and tactful manner. Must not be colorblind. Must be capable of issuing and comprehending clearly understandable written and oral instructions.

Condition of Employment

Will be required to serve up to a 5-year progression program with an evaluation every 6 months.
